V rámci konference Google I/O 2014 došlo na představení nového API pro vývojáře, které se jmenuje Google Fit Platform. Už jen podle názvu je jasné, že se jedná o novinku zaměřenou na sportovní aktivity. Google tedy ukázal něco podobného jako Health Kit od Applu, který byl nedávno představen jako součást iOS 8.

Google se zaměřil také na bezpečnost nasbíraných dat a tudíž bez vašeho výsadního povolení nebude moci žádná aplikace toto API využívat.

SDK pro Google Fit Platform bude uvolněno v následujících týdnech a nevíme tedy, co všechno budou umět aplikace využívající tuto platformu. Distribuce Google Fit Platform bude zřejmě probíhat skrze Google Play Services.
